Porto Timoni

Porto Timoni is without a doubt one of the most impressive and photographed natural wonders of the Greek island of Corfu. Located on the northwest coast near the traditional hillside village of Afionas, this spot is famous for its iconic double bay: two beaches lying back-to-back, separated by a narrow, green strip of land.

What makes Porto Timoni special is that the two beaches (Limni and Porto Timoni) have their own distinct character and water temperature. One bay faces the open Ionian Sea, while the other is more sheltered. Both feature crystal-clear, azure waters surrounded by rugged, green cliffs, making it a true paradise for swimmers and snorkelers.

What Makes Porto Timoni Unique?

  • The Iconic Viewpoint: Before descending to the beaches, you walk past a cliffside viewpoint offering the famous panoramic overview of the double bay.

  • Untouched Nature: There are no beach bars, sunbeds, or commercial facilities. The bay is pure, natural, and retains a wild, rustic charm.

  • Afionas Village: The starting point of the hike is the picturesque village of Afionas. Here you will find narrow alleys, colorful flowers, and excellent tavernas with spectacular sunset views.

Practical Information & Tips:

  • Accessibility: Reachable only on foot via a steep, rocky trail from Afionas (approx. 20–30 minute descent), or by boat/water taxi from nearby Agios Georgios Pagon.

  • Footwear: Good hiking shoes or sturdy sneakers are essential. The path is slippery and unsuitable for flip-flops or sandals.

  • Amenities: There are no amenities on the beach. Bring plenty of drinking water, snacks, sun protection, and an umbrella.

  • Best Time to Visit: Go as early in the morning as possible to avoid the midday heat on the climb back up and to beat the crowds.

Porto Timoni is the ideal destination for adventurous travelers and nature lovers looking to reward a short hike with one of the finest swims in Greece.
